Still life allows familiar objects to be seen outside the flow of their everyday use. In this work, the genre offers a meeting point between observation and arrangement: objects become relationships of colour, shape and space. Zena Kay’s broader practice draws on food and daily experience, bringing an accessible visual language to subjects that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
