About the artist

Anish Kapoor was born in Mumbai on 12 March 1954 and moved to the United Kingdom to train at Hornsey College of Art and then Chelsea School of Art and Design (Wikipedia). He studied at Hornsey from 1973 to 1977 and did postgraduate study at Chelsea from 1977 to 1978, and he now lives and works in London and Venice (Lisson Gallery). His work moves between very different scales, from PVC skins inflated within architecture to concave mirrors and voids of pigment carved into stone or the ground (Lisson Gallery).

Kapoor won the Turner Prize in 1991 and was knighted in the 2013 Birthday Honours for services to visual arts (Wikipedia). His public sculptures include Cloud Gate (2006) in Chicago's Millennium Park, Sky Mirror, shown at the Rockefeller Center in New York and in Kensington Gardens in London, and the ArcelorMittal Orbit, completed in 2012 for London's Olympic Park (Wikipedia). In 2026 the Hayward Gallery in London showed new and earlier works across the whole building from 16 June to 18 October; the Hayward was the first public gallery in the UK to hold a major survey of his work, in 1998 (Southbank Centre).

Glow, the work in the Joseph Clark Collection, is a 2026 giclée print after a 2023 work by Kapoor, issued by Hospital Rooms, the charity that commissions art for NHS mental health wards (Joseph Clark Collection). It was the tenth and final poster in the charity's 10 Posters for 10 Years series, sold for ten days only from 14 to 24 October 2026 (CoolCuration). Kapoor had made an earlier poster for the charity, Breathing Blue, in 2020 (CoolCuration).
