About the artist

Twan Janssen (Antonius Johannes Leonardus Janssen) is a Dutch artist, born in Nijmegen on 23 September 1968, whom the RKD records as a painter, sculptor and installation artist working in abstraction. He studied at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem from 1987 to 1991 and at Ateliers Arnhem from 1991 to 1992, and worked in Arnhem from 1991 to 1994 and in Amsterdam in 2003 (RKD).

Museum Helmond holds two of his multiples from 1993, each with a bar of soap in the shape of a tube of paint. One, General Merchandise, was published for his exhibition of that name at the Gemeentemuseum Helmond from 16 February to 20 March 1994 (Museum Helmond); the other is titled I shall cleanse the world (Museum Helmond). The museum also holds Pakpapier (1994), a printed poster of drawings of works he made in 1993 and 1994, with titles and texts by the artist (Museum Helmond).
