About the artist

Daniel Silver was born in London in 1972 and lives and works there. He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art (BA Fine Art, 1999) and the Royal College of Art (MA Sculpture, 2001), and in 2002 studied sculpture at the British School at Rome (Fruitmarket). His sculptures explore the forms and presences of the human body, drawing on the art of the ancient world, modernism and psychoanalytic theory, and he works in concrete, bronze, marble, stone, wood and clay (Frith Street Gallery).

In 2013 Artangel commissioned Dig, an imagined archaeological dig of sculptures on the derelict site of a former cinema on Grafton Way, London (Fruitmarket). His first exhibition in Scotland, Looking, ran at Fruitmarket, Edinburgh, from 11 June to 25 September 2022 and showed painted ceramic busts, figures and abstracted totems alongside new works on paper (Fruitmarket). He is represented by Frith Street Gallery, London (Wikipedia). The Joseph Clark Collection holds Looking 1 (2022), a two-colour photolithograph made in connection with the Fruitmarket exhibition (Joseph Clark Collection).
